About Me

A dimly lit workstation with three monitors displaying Linux terminals, system dashboards, and technical documentation—the heart of the unknown-universe.co.uk

The Unknown Universe is where I document my work with Linux, FOSS, and the fight for digital sovereignty. I’ve spent years as a sysadmin and I’ve had enough of Big Tech owning our hardware and our data. Most of my time is spent tinkering in a Proxmox home lab, digging into tools that actually empower users.

Whether you’re a Linux veteran or just looking for an alternative to the Windows/Google ecosystem, I aim to provide direct, no-fluff content based on real-world testing.

For this blog, I don’t use mainstream “Big Tech” social media. It’s incompatible with the privacy and FOSS principles I’m documenting here. While I’ve built for those platforms in the past, I’ve moved this project to the Fediverse (Mastodon/Lemmy). Decentralisation and user control actually mean something there. This site is a distraction-free zone for honest tech talk.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a look around, and let’s figure this stuff out together.
